I'm a tea drinker. Ok, occasionally I do indulge in a cup o' Joe, usually just to get through a boring class or stressful test, but I feel the satisfaction I get from a simple cup of tea far outweighs that heightened alertness - and then later complete loss of energy - you get from coffee. I might even go so far as to say I think it's better than water. Preposterous you say? I think not. I've got the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition on my side. BBC News recently published an article showing the EJCN's findings on just how magnificent tea is, claiming that, "Tea not only rehydrates as well as water does, but it can also protect against heart disease and some cancers."Lead author Dr. Ruxton goes on to say, "Tea replaces fluids and contains antioxidants so its got two things going for it." And what does water have to say to this? Even coffee, do you have anything you'd like to add? That's right, you can just stay quite. I always knew tea would come out on top.

I haven't heard many people taunt water and coffee before... You're very brave!!! The last person who did that was driven into his bathroom by attacking coffee beans and then swallowed by his toilet! Maybe you'll get lucky and tea will decide to protect you, but from what I hear tea is very unreliable...
I completely agree with you, Hayley. I drink around 3 big mugs of Earl Grey every day. I can't afford any luxurious drinks past milk, so tea it is! Its so good!
My, my. Them's fightin' words. Tea is lovely, but as an afternoon or evening drink, I say. You see, coffee is lovely, dark and mysterious. If I had to give up all food/substance pleasures save one...I would trade it all for coffee. Tea is light and fun, but coffee beckons me each night with a deep, smoothing promise that somehow tomorrow morning will not be only pain and suffering as I flop out of bed. It's a wonder I make it to the kitchen without wandering out to the street in full zombie mode, looking for people to eat. Coffee keeps me from being a cannibal, you see.
I've often felt that tea was vastly superior to water. Maybe it's in our genes? I'll bet there've been cultures in which the water was just too bacteria-ridden to drink, which of course forced them into boiling up some of that water and making it into delicious and nutritious tea.
